Those time, when there were less publicity for Sabah in the media, outsider especially 'peninsular-ian', have this 'some' kind of perception for Sabah. I am aware that those mind sets were influenced by the image, awful image of Sabah displayed by the media. Remember during elections campaign, when government wanted to Sabah from PBS, they played this strategies of showing to the nation the non-developed part of Sabah - squatters, thick jungle, etc. And of course those who had never been to Sabah would thought Sabah is nothing more than the third world countries - underdeveloped.
And hence, this is what we Sabahan have to go through as a result of government brilliant strategies;
Scene 1My friend and I was chatting about our experienced on driving when I say, I
always drive on the left lane when I'm goi. . .
My friend: Eh, Sabah got more than one lane meh?
Scene 2My sister was staying at her adopted family in Johor. While preparing lunch, one of her adopted family asked her;
How do you cook back in Sabah? Do you have rice cooker?
Scene 3One of my Sabahan senior in college once told me that she was once asked by a peninsular-ian;
Macam mana kamu pindah rumah ek? Kena pakai tali ke?
Scene 4One of the peninsular-ian teacher in mom's school admitted that before coming to Sabah, she was told to bring rope along. And she did!!!
Okay, to show that we are not that bad, I post some pictures for your eyes and see what Sabah has to offer. Visit Sabah Year,
